St Ives Food Festival has become a ‘mummy and mary’ ‘pencil-in-worthy’ event. Last year we were hosting a garden party (see here) for the whole of St Ives and a loud american man. As you may have guessed we went OTT and decided to order everything from the festival including a kangaroo burger and enough cheese to make the moon.
So this year we were super excited to see what it had to offer. We promised Rich that we will come back with the meats of the world and Tarquins gin so off we went skipping to the beach…
This was what greeted us… £4 english sparkling.
Now equipped with bubbles we started the loop to get meat and gin for Rich. We first came across a fish and chip tent there was scallops on a stick , I had to try it. so we settled. (‘never eat on your feet’ mummy quoted)
I was still hungry so we went to look at what we could have on this beach… this is a caribbean curry.
Looks amazing but never the curry type of lady. So we had a choice of hot dogs, burgers, sushi, paella…
After a long...long time deciding our lunch we went for…
Pulled Pork burger…a festival favourite.
ok…ok now we were full we finally entered the tent;
o look they are selling english rose mummy!
so back out we went…
After enjoying a glass we realised we really need to get the gin and meat for Rich. we went back in..but all we could see was a bit of chocolate, fish bar, these sample brownies…mmm
Then something caught my eye…’.O mummy the queue for the Pimm’s has gone down!!’
(can i note the dark generous shade of this Pimm’s)
Anyway a bum-less Elvis and some animals were now out competing on a paddle board relay and this was highly entertaining.
‘Mary, we really need to bring something back, I promised.’
So we searched a little more but there was no meat or Tarquins in sight. There was however beef and blue cheese pie! YAY! Every man likes a pie.. we proudly skipped back home, gave Rich his pie and retreated to our rose supplied shed.
By this time we had learnt Rich didn’t like blue cheese…and there was no gin.
Thanks to mummy gin is all he drinks. we looked down at our full glass of rose sparkling in the sun…tapped our pull pork bellies and felt a little bad.
So we had an idea…
sirloin and tanquery from co-op
