Popcorn flavoured shots at Revs was a good idea 10 hours ago..not so much as I woke Sunday morning
However I was determined to not waste the weekend, I insisted we should go to Battersea park zoo and see Wiggle and Piggle the fluffy pigs.
It felt like an acceptable weekend activity rather then drinking Bloody Mary’s
Unfortunately the card machine at the zoo wasn’t working. Wiggle and Piggle the fluffy pig plan was put on hold, off we went to find a Bloody.
Stumbling through the streets of Battersea we found “The Magic Garden Pub”.
From the outside it looked like an old mans boozer which hasn’t seen a paint brush since the 70s. Inside was ,well, like a Magic Garden.
a DJ stage, taxi and even an outside bar selling marmite crumpets. It was different to say the least….what about their Bloody Mary.
Taste:3 horseradish with this one, slightly watery tomato juice but tasty mix.
Sweat test : 4/5 heat from the horseradish was very satisfying.
Cup: 5/5 Great size,awesome shape
Garnish:4/5 Big celery, cherry tomatoes, slice of lemon. They didn’t miss a trick
Presentation : 5/5 love when you see the texture of horseradish inside, it was neat and dressed to it’s Sunday best.
Bonus point 1 Lovely service with company of a cat
Overall: 22/25 Very surprising find, brilliant.
Now what makes this place even more worth going to is the food. Starting with their starters:
Salt & Pepper Squid With sea asparagus & sweet chilli sauce
Tortilla Scallops Served on a crispy tortilla with guacamole & salsa
And best of all the lamb roast. As every British person knows to end a week on a bad roast, ruins the week. This was certainly not the case- I could bath in the Yorkshire pudding. Yes the chef got slightly excited with the water cress but it was still top notch.
What I am trying to get at is that you could should check this place out, they do gigs at night if that’s your thing, top food for a lazy afternoon with a fab cocktail list. Personally I am looking forward to having some Pimms in the garden this summer…see you there!
